Sholem Shoes Post-Lesson
Grade Level: Third-Fifth
Grade
Adaptable: All Grades
Time: 5-6 Thirty-Minute Periods
Procedure:
- Have students discuss the findings
for the shoe surveys in small groups.
- As they discuss their data,
create catagories that will define the different ways shoes have
changed in style, function, design, materials, cost, size, etc.
- Have the students create a bar
graph of survey findings based on the newly created shoe catagories.
- Have students develop a record
of the history of shoes by making a journal with contemporary
shoe images cut from current magazine or catalogs or researching
archival information about costume and clothing in old adverstisements.
- Have students photograph or
draw shoes of their own or other people to record and place in
their journals.
