Choose a person or group of people to write about. You could choose a friend or someone from another country that you would like to learn more about. Mr. Gnagey usually chooses people who have different backgrounds. This means people who come from different countries or have different religious beliefs.
Research Once you choose a person or group of people to write about it is helpful to do a little research to learn more about that person. Research is looking up and finding information about a certain person or lifestyle (the way people live). When Mr. Gnagey researches people he looks for information about their heritage, how the lifestyle was different from now, their religion, and what people from other countries changed to become more like Americans and what they kept the same.
You can find the answers to your research questions by talking to family members, going to the library, or using the encyclopedia. History books, newspapers and magazines are good sources of information as well as your local museum. Also, like right now, you can search the Internet for answers
Plan After Mr. Gnagey finishes his research he looks at his notes and thinks about how he can make the person the focus of his story. This is a very important part of writing. You need to choose a setting which is where the story takes place. The time period the story takes place in, sometimes modern day or in the past. He Also, you need to choose your other characters and give them names. You have to think about what each person's role in the story is. You need to decide what they are going to do in the story.
. Write Once you have an idea about who you want to write about and the actions in your story you are ready to start writing.
